Last weekend’s Copenhagen Beer Festival in Boston, MA saw breweries from six different countries gather together to share some of their awesome brews. From Cinnamon BBA ales to locally foraged wild ales. The festival is a collaboration between Boston Calling Events and the Danish brewery Mikkeller.
This year’s edition saw a special brew from Morganton’s Fonta Flora brewery. Brutus, a mixed-yeast culture Farmhouse Ale aged on dandelion flowers. In an interview with Boston’s WBUR public radio, Sara Maya, Fonta’s Zookeeper/Facilitator said it was hard to find dandelions that weren’t polluted since they like to grow near roadways. “We’re making tea with dandelions, and Brutus tastes tart, strange and very wild.”
